SBO strengthens business presence in Taiwan with the appointment of new Area Manager, Matt Bowden

As the key representative for SBO in Taiwan, Matt is based in Taipei and will provide strategic leadership in business development, sales & marketing and operations both locally and in other East Asian markets. UK-born Matt is a fluent Mandarin speaker and a long term resident of Taiwan, having lived and worked there over the past seven years. Matt has a broad range of work experience across diverse industries including renewable energy, retail, textile, education and aviation. He has previously worked for the Swire Group in various commercial and operations-related roles in China, Hong Kong and India.

Headquartered in Copenhagen, Denmark, SBO owns and operates two Windfarm Installation Vessels (WIVs) and is a fully owned subsidiary of Swire Pacific Offshore Operations (Pte) Ltd (SPO). SBO prides itself in delivering high quality installation services for offshore windfarm foundations, transition pieces and wind turbine generators and provides a wide range of maintenance, construction and decommissioning works.

Over the past six years, SBO has built a sound reputation in Europe as a reliable operator capable of installing offshore wind components under challenging environmental conditions. Throughout 2017, 2018 and 2019, SBO’s WIVs have operated in deep waters with jacking operations further complicated by difficult seabed soils. SBO’s recent projects have been defined by conditions similarly challenging to those found off the coasts of Taiwan. SBO’s vessels have demonstrated themselves as highly capable when faced with challenging soil conditions and extreme water depths, and therefore, as especially well-suited to the Taiwanese market.
