First turbine installation at the Greater Changhua offshore wind farms in Taiwan
Today, Cadeler has installed the very first offshore wind turbine at the Greater Changhua 2b and 4 offshore wind farms in Taiwan, developed by Ørsted.
Wind Maker and the crew will be in charge of the transportation and installation of 66 Siemens Gamesa 14MW wind turbine generators. When completed, the wind farms will deliver 920MW of clean offshore wind energy and significantly contributing to Taiwan’s energy transition goal.
Wind Maker was delivered to Cadeler from the shipyard in Korea in January 2025, and is the first of two M class wind installation vessels in Cadeler’s newbuild portfolio. Her sister vessel, Wind Mover, will be delivered by the end of the year.
The M class vessels are engineered and equipped to install the next-generation of offshore wind turbines and foundations - safely and efficiently. It is purpose-built to withstand the most extreme weather conditions and operate at the most challenging offshore wind installation sites.
Cadeler currently has two wind installation vessels on hire on long-term projects in Taiwan.
We are proud to be part of this landmark project – for Taiwan and the green transition!
