P-class vessels

In August 2024, we celebrated the delivery of Wind Peak, our first of two new P-class vessels to join Cadeler's growing portfolio of wind farm installation vessels. Wind Peak went directly from the shipyard in Qidong, China to full commercial operation and is currently busy installing Siemens Gamesa 14MW Wind Turbine Generators (WTG's) at the Sofia Offshore Wind Farm in the North Sea developed by RWE. When completed it will be one of the largest single offshore wind farms in the world.

The two P-class vessels in the Cadeler fleet, Wind Peak and Wind Pace, are designed to operate at some of the most difficult sites around the globe and with the most advanced equipment in the industry. The vessels will offer increased transit capacity, lowering the energy intensity of installation, reducing installation time and thereby lowering total cost of installing offshore wind farms.

With a deck space of 5,600m2, a payload of over 17,600 tonnes and main crane capacity of above 2,600 tonnes at 47 meters, the two new cyber-secure vessels are very attractive to the industry. The vessels will be able to transport and install up to seven complete 15MW turbine sets per load or five sets of 20+ MW turbines, cutting down the number of trips needed for each project, thus accelerating installation speed and minimising the carbon footprint. The vessels can accommodate 130 people.
